The Orange County Branch NAACP is urging all members and supporters to attend on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. the 9th annual Martin Luther King Gospel Concert. It will be held at the Dr. Phillips Center of the Performing Arts, Steinmetz Hall and Branch members are cordially and especially invited to attend.
Admission is free. But attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for UP – United AGAINST POVERTY, which will be distributed locally. Branch 1st VP Walter Hawkins will be collecting can goods at the January NAACP membership meeting and prior to the concert received from those individuals not attending.
The concert is presented by the City of Orlando and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission and is produced and directed by Grammy Award Winner, Dr. Jeffrey Redding to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Special guest performers include Naguanda Miller-Nobles, Soprano – Benjamin Polite, Bass, and Shawn Welcome, the City of Orlando’s Poet Laureate. This year’s theme is “Through the storm, I need You to survive!”
