NAACP Moore Observance

The Orange County NAACP hosted a discussion session to pay homage on the contribution and sacrifice of Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore, Florida Civil Rights icons on December 28th, 2024.

Speakers sharing reflections and memories about the life, contributions and ultimate sacrifice to the Civil Rights movement included Dr. Vibert White and Larry Colleton of the Orange County branch of the NAACP.

The Moore’s spent their life fighting the unjust treatment of Blacks by hate groups, law enforcement and the legislature. In spite of these risks, they worked to educate and to register Blacks to vote.

Attending the ceremony was Sonya Mallard and Carsonda Wright from the Harry T. & Harriette V. Moore Cultural Complex in Bravard County. They relayed information about the Museum, Park and Complex that is a tribute to the Moore’s. The complex and museum are located at 2180 Freedom Ave. Mims FL. 32754, the website is harryharriettemoore.org and can reached at 321-264-6595.

Thanks to Pastor Thomas of the Church of Scientology for hosting the event at their facility.
